Partial Solar Eclipse Scorpio New Moon Oct 23: Diving Deep

"Nations, like stars, are entitled to eclipse. All is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not become an endless night. Dawn and resurrection are synonymous. The reappearance of the light is the same as the survival of the soul.
Victor Hugo, French novelist and poet (1802-85)

"I was born during an eclipse. I believe very much in astrology. If you were born on an eclipse it indicates your destiny is chaotic."

Chaos indeed, Gloria! Solar Eclipse energy fuels the shadow. It reveals an inner world of mystery and intrigue. In the "as above, so below" it brings our gaze inward to reexamine priorities and fuel and deepen our inner journey. It's the reflective pause before moving forward. It connects us to our primal juice...the very fuel that enriches life.

At this New Moon, the 4th and last eclipse of 2014 arrives. Like its April counterpart at the Taurus New Moon, it is a partial solar eclipse. This eclipse follows the same energetic theme/path as the other 3 eclipses of 2014, ushering in a period of chaos, introspection and uncertainty. Additionally, the Scorpio vibe adds drama and intensity to the mix!

At 0° Scorpio, the partial solar eclipse activation signals a dramatic shift in energy from Libra and its typical more light-hearted approach to life, to a deep, dark, mysterious Scorpio. For North America, this partial eclipse will be visible and noticeable, particularly for those living in the western part of the continent. For those in the Eastern US and Canada, be prepared for a partially blackened Sun at sunset.

Archetypal Scorpio brings us into the depths of our being, our soul, our reality. It shows us the shadow. "Intense" is a common description of Scorpio types. They play hard...and with

Mercury Retrograde Oct 4 - 25: a survival guide

To effectively communicate, we must realize we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.
Tony Robbins, Motivational Speaker and Teacher

"A word to the wise is enough. The old proverb is, forewarned, forearmed."

Now that the recent Lunar Eclipse day has had its day in, or really "out of the Sun", I want to move on to Mercury Retrograde. I'm sharing this information because this particular Mercury Retrograde carries a stronger intensity than usual. Yes...MR can be more intense than its usual craziness!. That intensity mirrors Mercury Retro occurring amidst two eclipses in October.

I must laugh too. Visiting Sri Lanka during Mercury Retrograde has amplified the quintessential  "lost in translation" experience. The nuances of communication here exist in a world unto themselves. Head nods of varying angles say more than words. Thus...I've readily learned to be alert, pay attention to what feels easy or hard, and more than anything else, laugh and go with the flow. For example...my daughter and I are traveling north tomorrow to visit the ancient temple sites of Anuradhapura. Yesterday we learned the trains are not operating in the North due to a train strike. So now we're driving north. Going with the flow. And, I ask myself (good Mercury Retro strategy) "what wonderful spontaneous adventures await us?"

With that out of the way...please read on:

Astrology May 2014 Scorpio Full Moon: Emotional Intensity 101

“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost.”  Martha Graham

"Big Wave Day Hawaii" sketch by Joseph Mina
The month of May nears its half way point (these months are sure flying by) as the Scorpio Full Moon takes center stage. Each year, the Scorpio Full Moon lights up the mid-spring sky (or mid-autumn sky for those down-under). Here, we are encouraged to go deeper into our life force, exploring new ways to use this precious vibration in our day-to-day lives.

Full Moon arrives on the 14th at 9:16 am in Hawaii, 12:16 pm on the West Coast; 3:16 pm on the East coast; 7:16 pm UTC; and on the 15th from western Russia east to the international date line.

This Full Moon joins Saturn in Scorpio in the current sky story. Over the past 90 years, this is only the 4th time the Full Moon and Saturn in Scorpio have come into close aspect (2nd closest). Archetypally, the Moon's

Astrology Forecast November 2013: Scorpio Season and a Solar Eclipse

“I was born on the night of Samhain, when the barrier between the worlds is whisper-thin and when magic, old magic, sings its heady and sweet song to anyone who cares to hear it.”
― Carolyn MacCullough, Once a Witch

This is the November 2013 Gemini Awakening Astrology Update

The season of Scorpio offers opportunities to see beneath the surface of things, deepen emotional connection and reassess how we value our shared resources.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the leaves fall to the ground this time of the year, sometimes blazing in rich colors. Eventually this earthly gift returns or merges into the soil. And so it is with the vibration of Scorpio. The fading and ending of one form portends a merging and new beginning. The combination of the Sun, Saturn and Mercury Retrograde this month further amplify this process of the old merging into the new. In this vibration, everything becomes amplified...magnified...and issues of trust take center stage. Who can you trust?

Scorpio energy plunges to the depths of any situation. There is nothing boring about Scorpio. It is high octane fuel and full of life force. Yet, its shadow side may be even more potent than what is revealed on the surface. That edgier aspect sometimes is revealed in rather intense ways.

Partial Eclipsed Scorpio Full Moon Apr 25: Embracing the non ordinary

Pain represents any uncomfortable situation that interrupts your life. It moves life from the ordinary to the non ordinary, where victory, passion, and excitement exist.  Add new energy, wisdom and order to the non ordinary state and life becomes extraordinary.
Donald Epstein DC, founder of Wise World Seminars

It's been quite a month. The building surge of Aries mojo in late March strongly indicated life would be intense come April. Seems the Universe did not let us down. Abundant Aries aggression and assertiveness in the field does not make for a calm, flowing cycle even in the best of circumstances.

And now, as the end of the month approaches, the Moon shifts to its full frequency, dips ever so slightly into the Earth's shadow in lock step with Saturn, and looks intently across at the Sun hiding Mars and Venus in its glare. Oh yes, the wild energetic ride of the Spring and Summer of 2013 continues, this time in the potent realm of Scorpio's life force.

The Full Moon positions at 6° Scorpio on April 25th at 9:57 am in Hawaii; 12:57 pm PDT, 7:57 pm Greenwich Mean Time, and on the 26th from the Middle East to the International Date Line.

Last week's tragic events in Boston underscore the dilemma of our times: how to navigate intense cycles of transformation and change while maintaining self-identity, direction and purpose? Yet, like it or not, any significant natural upheaval or human tragedy catapults everyone affected into the realm of the non-ordinary. Obligations and other routine aspects of life quickly shift into chaos, uneasiness

Aloha from Tokyo, Japan

Life has moved at a very rapid pace since the Taurus Full Moon. Perhaps the current Mercury Retrograde bridging life force Scorpio and truth driven Sagittarius has something to do with it. Nonetheless, today marks the Scorpio New Moon, one that sends the shadow of the Moon earthbound. Yes, a total eclipse of the Sun greets this day adding another layer of energy to a conundrum of recent news events that seem stranger and stranger.

Eclipse energy induces shifts and changes over the subsequent 6 months. For example, consider the changes that have occurred in your life since the last major eclipse cycle this past May. This one will be no different in its intensity. Its passage will be over the eastern parts of northern Australia and the South Pacific before ending at sunset over southern Argentina. This is a good

Scorpio Super Full Moon and Annular New Moon Eclipse May 2012: A Resounding Gong

“We are the miracle of force and matter making itself over into imagination and will. Incredible....The Universe has shouted itself alive. We are one of the shouts.”
Ray Bradbury, Science-Fiction Author, (1920- )

"Eclipses can last anywhere from a fraction of a minute to upwards of seven minutes, depending on how deeply the rapier tip of the Moon's shadow reaches the Earth; that is -- maintaining the same grisly metaphor -- whether it barely grazes the Earth's cheek, or slices clean through the planet."
Chet Raymo, Author (1936- )

Note: we posted this update at the last Full Moon. Below you will find specific details about the major Annular Eclipse sweeping over Southeastern China, Japan and the Western United States on May 20/21. This eclipse positions just to the left of the Pleaides: an amazing activation event for amazing times. In 2 weeks we will post more information about the June 5th epic transit of Venus across the Sun.

Scorpio Full Moon May 17: Magic, Mystery and Connection

“I came here today to experience the energy of Hawaii. And what happened was I entered a magic world inside I never knew existed.”
Y Yamanakoa, Tokyo, Japan...Tsunami Charity Event participant, May 2011

May 17th 2011 the Full Moon shines in Scorpio at 26 degrees.  This is a time to illuminate magic and mystery in your life. How deeply are you connected to others? In what ways are you sharing your resources? Are you deeply feeling things you cannot explain? These are questions to contemplate and take action on in this season of the Scorpio Full Moon. Here we discuss some of May’s planet patterns and how it relates to our personal and professional experiences in Japan this month.

Full moon is a perfect time to explore the mystery of polarity in the zodiac and in our lives. The Sun is naturally positioned in the opposite zodiac sign of the Full Moon each month.  Taurus is earthy and sensual, it relates to personal property and what you really value. Tangible Taurus is everything we can touch, taste, see and smell. By contrast, the sensual Scorpio vibration

Scorpio New Moon - fuel for relationships

"The ultimate test of a relationship is to disagree, but hold hands."
Alexandra Penny, American Author

New Moon today, November 5th, at 13 degrees Scorpio. This is the same degree where Venus began its recent retrograde journey into the archetypal \ underworld. More here:

Usually, New Moon times are rather inward. A period of reflection, receiving nurturing self-care, starting new projects and creating intentions for the 4 week Moon cycle are its general strategies. However, this inward movement actually goes deeper, due to the Venus in Scorpio/Libra effect occurring through November 18th.

Venus Retrograde 2010: Diving Into Intimacy

"Intimacy is being seen and known as the person you truly are." Amy Bloom, Writer (1953- )

"Passion is the quickest to develop, and the quickest to fade. Intimacy develops more slowly, and commitment more gradually still." Robert Sternberg, Psychologist (1949 - )

About 12 hours after New Moon occurred on October 7, Venus began its 5 week retrograde  cycle. This is a  significant cycle for two reasons. The New Moon energy  occurred in Venus'  natural sign of Libra. New Moon energy points to an unfolding of energy over time. Venus is Libra embraces diplomacy and equal conscious relationships. She desires harmony, sometimes at any price  Secondly, this is the 5th and last retrograde in  the current 8 year Venus cycle, culminating June of 2012 when Venus makes  its epic transit across the face of the Sun. Venus solar transits are an astronomical rarity.

Here's more about this Venus Retrograde from MzZodiac and Starman in our latest video blog from Hamamatsu, Japan (note: normally I embed the video for easy access, however, this is not possible in Japan).

Scorpio Full Moon - Passion Express

I passionately hate the idea of being with it, I think an artist has always to be out of step with his time. Orson Welles (1915 - 1985)

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.  The Dalai Lama

Greetings or Konnichiwa from Japan.

Kathryn and I are here to co-teach bodywork, and offer private tandem bodywork sessions for the next 3 weeks. Also, here to enjoy the beauty of the Japanese springtime.

As skilled, intuitive astrologers, we see great value in exploring the dynamic astrological cycles sweeping the consciousness. As long-time bodyworkers, we value the importance of integrating this cosmic energy within our body physiology. Very excited to be in the land of the Rising Sun sharing these gifts with our Japanese friends.

Scorpio Full Moon on the 28th occurs at 2:20 AM in Hawaii, noon time in England, and late at night on the 28th in Japan. This is the 2nd Full Moon of spring, signaling the celebration of Wesak, or the celebration of Buddah's birth, teachings and enlightened life. Hence, this Full Moon is a time of receiving the gift of profound compassion from this extraordinary Master. Also, a heightened spiritual essence fills this day.

Further, full expression of one's passion/desires represents the theme of this lunation. Due to the chart's inherent challenges around lack of appreciation or acknowledgment, or inhibited playful spontaneity, the shadow side of Scorpio (inhibited or numbed life force) may appear in your experiences. Yet, using the grace of compassion can deepen this dance with the shadow in healing and forgiving ways.  Full Moon energy window spans April 27 - 29th.

The intensity of Mars in Leo

What in the world is going on????? Sure seems intense around the globe.

One look at the current  transit chart dynamics explains it: Sun and Mercury in Scorpio square Mars in Leo. Scorpio's life force meets the radiance of the Leo heart, or in certain quarters, the full force of the Leo ego. Sun represents the fuel of the mix; Mercury how it is imparted or communicated; Mars is where the action lies. Nothing boring in this trio.

Squares are always an edgy type of energy. Think of two forces just not seeing eye-to-eye on anything. Yet, squares in a natal chart can also be a "stop sign" of sorts, indicating "that's not the way to go", or "buyer beware". Particularly affected by this dynamic is anyone with significant planetary aspects in your natal chart in early to mid degree Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius or Leo.

Back to the world stage. This square dynamic has been rather intense across the board. Here's a few examples of intensity in the realm of Scorpio's life force meeting the ego side of Leo.

Violent acts of aggressive force (shadow Mars) have occurred over the past week in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. Bombs, war, etc. etc. No need to go into the details. Enough to simply say "intense".

Israel and Palestine have resumed aggressive acts towards each other, this time in the holy city of Jerusalem.

Intensity can also reveal itself in the infrastructure. For example, just yesterday, the Bay Bridge in California was shut down indefinitely to traffic after one of its cables snapped at rush hour. This is the commuter route for over 300,000 cars a day! Think of the inconvenience and intensity that creates.

On a much more positive note, President Obama today signed the first gay civil rights legislation, protecting gays, lesbian, bi-sexual and trans-gender individuals from acts of violence (think Sun/Mercury square Mars). These aggressive acts are now included and treated as acts of hate carrying with it significant federal punishments. Further, this legislation has been 10 years in the making.

This intense Scorpio/Leo vibration continues through the 18th of November. Remember too, Saturn moves into Libra on Oct 30th and begins its 5 month square with Pluto. Powerful cycles for a powerful time of transition and change

After the 18th, the Sun and Mercury move far away from Mars energy to complete the square, however, they begin a square to the Aquarius energy of Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron. Sort of like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. That dynamic is for a future blog.

In the meantime, stay clear, breathe, receive nurturing bodycare, and physically exercise to allow this strong energy to easily circulate within your body.

Feel free to share how you have been personally affected by this current vibe.

Planetary Cycles - October 19 - 25

Astrology Planetary Cycles

October 19 - 25

Moon begins the week in the life force
dynamics of Scorpio. By week's end, it is immersed in the Aquarius grouping of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron. In between, the Moon revisits Sagittarius' quest for the truth and Capricorn's desire to be organized and down-to-earth.

Meanwhile, Mars (visible as a ruddy point of light high in the eastern pre-dawn sky) moves now in the heart-driven sign of Leo. Because of its coming December retrograde, Mars remains in Leo through next May. This 5 month inner journey's theme is "your heart passion and how you express it in your life". Venus remains in Libra this week, now moving away from its intense square with Pluto. What did you learn last week about relationships in your life?

Soon, Saturn moves into the sign of Libra. The Venus relationship lesson of last week provides content for this coming 2 1/2 year reevaluation period in the realm of equal conscious partnerships.

Lastly, Sun moves into life-force driven Scorpio on Oct 22 at 8:43 p HST. The first 4 days may prove intense as the early Sun degrees squares Mars in Leo. On the big stage, intense aggression may be prevalent between nations.

For the bigger picture, more on our recent free astrology podcast " Relationship Activation"

Holistic Strategy - On the 22nd Moon in Sagittarius squares both Saturn and Uranus. This dynamic asks "what is the truth for me in this time of rapidly changeable events?" At week's end, Scorpio Sun and Leo Mars dynamic creates critical tension around emotional heart issues. Time to reflect and be inward, accessing your place of inner peace.
