Venus Retrograde 2010: Diving Into Intimacy

 About 12 hours after New Moon occurred on October 7, Venus began its 5 week retrograde  cycle. This is a  significant cycle for two reasons. The New Moon energy  occurred in Venus'  natural sign of Libra. New Moon energy points to an unfolding of energy over time. Venus is Libra embraces diplomacy and equal conscious relationships. She desires harmony, sometimes at any price  Secondly, this is the 5th and last retrograde in  the current 8 year Venus cycle, culminating June of 2012 when Venus makes  its epic transit across the face of the Sun. Venus solar transits are an astronomical rarity.

Entered the shadow of its retrograde, crossing 27 Libra - Sept 6


Mars catches up to Venus at 12 degrees Scorpio - Oct 3 - the dance of the masculine and feminine


Stations retrograde at 13 Scorpio (starts decent toward Sun) - October 7

In the western sky "lost" in Sun's glare - Oct 15


Returns to the Eastern Sky - heliacal rise*** (first visible) at 1 Scorpio - Nov 5


Ingresses back into Libra - Nov 7


Returns to direct motion - 27 Libra - Nov 18th (renewed energy and outward expression returns)

 Crosses its retrograde point 13 Scorpio ending this retrograde cycle - Dec 20th
***"heliacal  rise" establishes the Venus theme for the next 1 1/2 yr Venus  cycle;  in this case "Scorpio". During this cycle, Venus explores each  zodiacal  sign through the filters of Scorpio and its theme of "life force".

In Scorpio, Venus delves into the underworld of life force, secrets,  shared resources, emotional drama, and high octane energy. As a water  sign, Scorpio is naturally inward and deep. The Venus archetype is not comfortable in this hidden, mysterious realm. Hence, fresh from her 2  1/2 month dance with Mars, she reluctantly goes inward to integrate past  experiences around sexuality, the loss of power through abandonment or  heartbreak, and misuse of sexual life force to gain advantage over others.

That  Venus returns to late degrees Libra puts an added relationship spin to the above scenario. Hence, not unusual for past relationships and/or karmic  connections to surface to allow you to "see it for what the connection was" rather  than continuing a pattern of sexual delusion with others. Pluto rules  Scorpio. Since the New Moon chart carries that extra Scorpio charge thanks to Pluto's square with Saturn/Mercury, a challenge is created in this retrograde to clearly communicate one's needs and boundaries.

Heightened awareness during this cycle. Significant astrological aspects in your natal chart in the fixed signs of Taurus/Scorpio and Leo/Aquarius between 0 and 13  degrees; in the cardinal signs of Aries/Libra and Capricorn/Cancer  between 25 and 29 degrees. Also, anyone with Venus retrograde in the  natal chart. Lastly, today is October 10, 2010, or 10-10-10. Certain channelers and psychics in the metaphysical movement have ascribed this number to a sign of a Cosmic portal opening for 2012, or other similar metaphysical phenomena. Astrologically, no significant aspects occur today pointing to this type of event. If others see significance, or sense something new coming, I say "great". Anything that uplifts spirit and our ability to connect with one another is always a good thing. However, as far as a cosmic shift or portal opening etc. only time will reveal what is unfolding. Venus retrograde encourages the inward journey. May you discover, experience and integrate your inner portal of awareness during this time.
