June 21 Solstice Arrives Today: Turning Up The Heat

... On The Summer Solstice ..."Whatever is dreamed on this night, will come to pass."
William Shakespeare - Acknowledging the Magic of This Time...A Mid-Summer Night's Dream

The Solstice arrives on June 21, 2011 as the Sun enters the Cardinal astrological sign of Cancer. In Hawaii, Solstice is at 7:16 am; 10:16 am on the Pacific Coast; 5:16 pm Greenwich Mean Time (GMT); and on the 22nd starting at 12:16 am over Vietnam, east to the International Date Line.

I was interviewed this morning by Hawaii Public Radio about the Solstice and its significance. That interview will be broadcast on the Solstice, sometime between 8 and 9 am in Hawaii on Public Radio Station 89.3 (KIPO) “Hawaii Conversation”. For those unable to listen to the live feed, an archive version is now available. You can listen here.

In the northern hemisphere, the June solstice is the longest day of the year, marking the first day of Summer. This rich, abundant season expresses the ripeness and fullness of life. Here, the raw, seemingly boundless energy of

Spring now matures and becomes grounded in our expressions and creative urges. This is the time where we usually relax and enjoy the warmer climate, go on holiday or vacation, nurture ourselves, and invite a more playful spirit into our daily pursuits.

Here’s the Solstice Chart

A Solstice or Equinox chart literally establishes a cultural theme for the coming season. This year’s solstice chart shows a repeat of an intense energy pattern established last year at the Solstice, known as the “Cardinal Climax”. This term points to the enormous social, political, and financial changes unfolding around the World between 2010 and 2015. This year, these potent astrological planetary energies once again line up near the early degrees of all Cardinal Signs, as illustrated below.

As I shared at this time last year, these 4 Cardinal zodiac signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are the initiators or catalytic spark for each season of the year. Further, they are the 4 cornerstones, or foundational points of life.
  • Aries focuses on creativity, resources and new initiatives;
  • Cancer feeds the realm of community/family;
  • Libra frames our relationships; and
  • Capricorn establishes our rules, organization and structures of life.
The related specific planetary energies this Solstice day adds further definition.
  • Uranus brings about surprises and quick change
  • Sun signifies the fuel
  • Saturn shows us where the form/structure is being recalibrated
  • Pluto underscores what is being transformed
Adding more fuel to this mix is the presence of strong Pisces (global connection and service) and Gemini (unexpected or spontaneous shifts and heightened communication) dynamics in the chart. Together, these variables point to global changes and shifts this coming season in the aforementioned 4 foundational areas of life, fueled by significant events of a spontaneous or unanticipated nature.

Yes, the world collective is rapidly shrinking. Potent weather events and geological activity in various areas of the globe continue to trigger unexpected shifts and changes, along with new opportunity. This Solstice chart points to a continuation of this activity. Over the coming 3 months, expect to see more intense weather and geological changes, serving as catalysts  for humanitarian and compassionate service in various areas of the Globe.

This dynamic activity will stand in stark contrast to areas of the world affected by mindless war and oppression. The polarity of many seemingly divided forces continues to build. As Shakespeare suggests in the Mid-Summer's Night Dream, choose conscious awareness when setting your intentions for the coming season. Remember, "you are the answer to your prayers".

  1. With all that is going on in the world, and 'happenings' to come, this feels 'right on'. I very much enjoyed reading this reflecting on my dream or Vision. This is very significant. Let us all dream a 'happy dream'. Namaste. Your Sister in the Light!

    Peace to all!
