Venus Retrograde 2010: Diving Into Intimacy

"Intimacy is being seen and known as the person you truly are." Amy Bloom, Writer (1953- )

"Passion is the quickest to develop, and the quickest to fade. Intimacy develops more slowly, and commitment more gradually still." Robert Sternberg, Psychologist (1949 - )

About 12 hours after New Moon occurred on October 7, Venus began its 5 week retrograde  cycle. This is a  significant cycle for two reasons. The New Moon energy  occurred in Venus'  natural sign of Libra. New Moon energy points to an unfolding of energy over time. Venus is Libra embraces diplomacy and equal conscious relationships. She desires harmony, sometimes at any price  Secondly, this is the 5th and last retrograde in  the current 8 year Venus cycle, culminating June of 2012 when Venus makes  its epic transit across the face of the Sun. Venus solar transits are an astronomical rarity.

Here's more about this Venus Retrograde from MzZodiac and Starman in our latest video blog from Hamamatsu, Japan (note: normally I embed the video for easy access, however, this is not possible in Japan).

Libra New Moon - Creating a New Balance

"Please remember as you continue on your quest for balance, happiness, inner peace, and lack of suffering, that everything in Nature goes through cycles… the ebbs and flows that allow us to experience the ecstasy of contrast. Without the constant sway, we would feel nothing at all. Neither extreme is sustainable indefinitely; and as the pendulum swings, we are renewed." Anonymous

On October 7th, the Moon completes its 28.5 day cycle, meeting the Sun at 14 degrees Libra. New Moon time in Hawaii is at 8:44 am (11:44 a on the West Coast; 6:44 pm Universal Time; and 3:44 am on the 8th in Japan).
Here, the familiar cycle of a New Moon leading to the Full Moon in its opposite sign is reestablished after 15 months of the reverse (Full Moon leading to the New Moon in the opposite sign). This more familiar pattern supports creative endeavors initiated at the New Moon, then reaching fulfillment at the ensuing Full Moon. This more familiar cycle continues for the next 20 months.

New Moon: Libra qualities  - air sign: relationships and companionship, beauty, artistry, curiosity, harmony and diplomacy, This particular New Moon adds to the "pairs effect" discussed in our last blog entry, upping the number of pair conjunctions to 5 and changing the mix slightly.

The 5 pairs today are Sun/Moon in Libra, Jupiter/Uranus in Pisces, Chiron/Neptune in Aquarius, Venus/Mars in Scorpio and Mercury/Saturn in Libra. I must say this chart is not only unusual because of the pairings, but also because there is very little interaction between the chart aspects.  This mostly "non-aspected" vibration tends to amplify the energy of the Sun/Moon combination.

It Takes Two To Tango

Greetings or Konnichiwa from beautiful Japan. Kathryn and I are here throughout October teaching 3 Bodywork workshops, and facilitating 2 Spiritual Retreats. During our stay, we visit Tokyo, Hamamatsu and Kyoto (near Osaka) and Lake Biwako, Tateshina and Kiso in the autumn colored mountains of central Japan.

Over the past few days, and continuing through mid-October, an unusual energetic dynamic is astrologically active: 4 pairs of planetary energies occurring simultaneously. While the coming together of two planetary energies is not unusual in astrological circles, 4 potent pairs occurring at the same time is unusual, warranting further examination. Here's the chart for October 3:
