Cancer New Moon June 27: The Evolving World Community

"It is in our hands -- yours and mine, each person here today -- to make a decision to work, to work together, and to work with others around the whole world, to build friendship, and love, and understanding among all people."  Alice Bartow Hobensack, Author

New Oxford Dictionary's definition of "Community":
• a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common
• a particular area or place considered together with its inhabitants, eg. a rural community.
• a body of nations or states unified by common interests
• a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals

Over the past 10 years, the very concept of community has rapidly evolved into an extraordinary awareness of the human family. In the on-going building Aquarian vibration of the 21st century, the circle of connection around the Globe has become greater and smaller simultaneously. Technology, and its child "social media" has stretched the parameters of our connections to every habitable corner of the Earth.

Today, it is quite easy to have a video chat with someone living on the other side of the Globe, or to collaborate with a team of people from a variety of locations. Yes...we are embracing a new concept of Community...the global human family. In turn, this is preparing us for a much bigger step...one that embraces our connection to other civilizations in the cosmos.

This Cancer New Moon provides the opportunity to reflect and celebrate the growing web of human connection, diversity, and inter-relationships. It is also a time to honor the traditions and gifts of the past, as well as embrace the new wave of co-existence and inter-dependency beginning to unite the human family. Peter Russel's description of the Global Brain and this unfolding unification is more relatable  and revealing
today than when first discussed back in the mid-1980's.

Here's the New Moon Chart

(1) The beginning of the Cancer New Moon lunation occurs late on the 26th in Hawaii at 10:08 pm; and on the 27th for most of the world (8:08 GMT). The Moon and Sun position at almost 6° Cancer. This is quite close to the degree where Mercury began its current retrograde back on June 7. Hence, Mercury's retrograde passage is an important component of this lunation.

Cancer, the sign of the crab, embodies the essence of nurturing care on the individual, family, home, and community levels. As a water sign, Cancer absorbs or collects from its surroundings. This creates a greater emotional intimacy and understanding. It is the very vibration that makes the words "family" and "familiar" synonymous.

Ironically, the very same term is used to described a diseasing process that has beset humanity, especially in the 20 and 21st centuries. Yet from a wider, more Aquarian perspective, this shadow side of Cancer points to the internal and external dissolving or destruction of old, traditional paradigms of family/community connections. In turn, this intense purging opens the way for a world-wide healing and new paradigm supporting global connection and sustainability.

Starman Coming Travels:

I visit Vancouver BC in mid-July. Working in synergy and tandem with the highly talented Dr. Suzanne Schiller DC, we are offering a Group Energy Healing Day on Saturday July 19.

I have been a teacher and practitioner of bodywork for 22 years. Adding astrology to my repertoire in the mid 90's created more depth and meaning in my healing offerings. Now, sharing these talents on a group level has created a sublime experience for participants. This group energy rich atmosphere (quite Aquarian) is primed for accelerated shift, enhanced awareness, creativity, and connection.

If you live in the Seattle/Vancouver BC areas, join us for this remarkable day of healing, accelerated shifts, creativity and connection. Also, please forward the above link to your connections in beautiful British Columbia. Mahalo!

"My experience with Joseph's work is, in a word, "sublime". Joseph is precise, clear and guided to place his hands on certain areas of the body...energy moves and magic happens."  BD, Big Island

(2) This New Moon also creates a trine to Neptune in Pisces. Here, dreamy Neptune infuses this lunation with global vision for oneness and inter-connection. It also evokes your soul's destiny in our global family. Pay particular attention to your dreams during this lunation for soul connections and new understanding.

(1) Mercury Retrograde continues...but not too much longer:
At this lunation, Mercury continues in retrograde in Gemini. However, that retrograde is soon to return to direct motion on July 1.

At station retrograde or direct, the fleet winged messenger's motion essentially stops for a period of about 5 days before and after the actual change in direction. Hence, an intensity occurs in Mercury's realms of communication, travel, ideas and thoughts, and movement. Further, Mercury's change in motion occurs near the degree placement of the Cancer New Moon. This further heightens the challenges associated with movement (including travel), as well as expressing our ideas and thoughts for a more sustainable and life-giving family and community. If "family and/or community issues" are prominent in your life right now, the energetic field is ripe for healing, greater understanding, compassion and connection.

(3) Mars in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries: I have mentioned this opposition cycle on a number of occasions since December. This is the last of 3 intense (hence the red) oppositions that began on December 24, peaked at the Cardinal Cross on April 22, and now completes at this New Moon.

As Mars continues to pick up speed from its mid-May direct station, this last of 3 oppositions with Uranus further opens the Aries door to new and exciting relationships for July and beyond. Yet, this opposition with changeable Uranus also points to the often unsustainable and tenuous nature of relationships created during this particularly intense Mars retrograde. Often these types of alliances help shift the energy from the old to the new, and then they are done as quickly as they began.

From a bigger perspective, important to remember your experiences during this Mars opposition with Uranus offers you new engaging ways of creating relationships and alliances going forward, especially those created on a global and soul level.

Questions for this lunation:
What feels nurturing to me?
What does my family mean to me?
What does my global family mean to me?
What does my soul family mean to me?
What am I ready to change in my life to create a more nurturing world for myself and others?

Highlights for July

July 18 - Venus enters Cancer

July 20 - Mars leaves its retrograde shadow, Saturn moves direct through March 14, 2015
July 21 - Uranus moves retrograde thru Dec 21, 2014

Conclusion: The other day I received an email about the challenges facing men nearing their 40's. "You either purge the past, get present and align with purpose now, or you court trouble as you continue to play out damaging patterns in the coming decade." was the general message. And yes, astrologically, late 30's into mid-40's is a very transformative and changing time. Yet, in this time of rapid change, spontaneous connection and exponential shifts of consciousness, I'd say his message pertains to any adult, regardless of age. In the words of Nelson Mandela, "there is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living."

I recall the first astrological consultation I received back in the late 1980's. I felt amazed as I listened to this astrologer describe the archetypal energies of my natal chart. More so, I realized there were parts of my psyche I had not developed or at the least explored. That startling awareness set in motion profound changes for me that impacted all aspects of my life, and initiated a greater healing with my family.

At this Cancer New Moon, the energetic field is ripe for meaningful connection and healing with your genetic, global and/or soul families. Equally, the nurturing influences of Cancer are accessible for greater self-care. Jupiter in the western sky visible after sunset reminds us its expansive influence in the sign of Cancer is coming to a close. Avail yourself to this energetic vibration by taking action now to deepen and nurture your connection to your self, your family and community. Sat Nam.
