Astrology Gemini New Moon May 28th: Mercury Retrograde Nears

The season of Gemini-style change is upon us. Gemini energy imbues change into everyday life. It's Gemini's nature.

Ruled by Mercury, Gemini thrives in the realm of communication, thoughts, movement and ideas. Usually, this playful nature manifests as spontaneous, humorous, connective, highly creative and changeable.  Yet, these are no ordinary times. In this current vibration, Gemini becomes a ninja-like shape shifter, ready to turn the energetic tables in the blink of an eye. Are you ready for more spontaneous change???

This Gemini New Moon also brings Neptune in Pisces into the conversation, evoking Neptune's connection to imagery, dreams, inspiration, and most importantly, confusion. "What is real and what is not?" will be a powerful theme generator in the coming months, especially in Pisces' realms of spirituality and illusion.

Gemini New Moon arrives on the 28th at 8:40 am in Hawaii, 11:40 am PDT, 2:40 EDT, 6:40
pm GMT, and on the 29th from Western China east to the International Date Line. Moon/Sun positions at 7° Gemini, directly in square to nebulous Neptune in Pisces.

Here's the video I posted last update covering dynamics for May into early June. The 2nd half of the video focuses on the Gemini New Moon and Mercury Retrograde.

Here's the New Moon chart split in two (how Gemini) to show clearly the Cardinal Cross and Grand Water Trine geometry explained below.

Strong factors during this Gemini New Moon lunation:
--Gemini is a mutable sign. It is the transitional energy between the spring and summer seasons. Hence, expect quite a bit of flux in the coming days thanks to...

--a direct square to Neptune in Pisces on the New Moon. "What is real in my life? What is a delusion?" are the dominant question at this lunation. Pisces' mysticism and spirituality will fuel these questions, sometimes inviting deception as a test or challenge. That's a powerful focus for reflection or meditation, especially as...

--Mars now moves direct, yet continues its very slow movement throughout June. By June 14th, it directly squares Pluto in Capricorn; and by the 24th directly opposes Uranus in Aries. As I have written on a number of occasions over the past 2 years, Uranus square Pluto (2011 to 2015) is crazy intense. Now, add a very slow moving Mars to the mix and crazy intense transforms into exponentially challenging. Surf this wave with great discernment in the coming days because...

--Mercury stations retrograde on the 7th at 3° Cancer. This particular retrograde does not cover much ground during its retrograde period (why am I not surprised???). The fleet winged messenger stations direct on July 1 at 24° Gemini. That's only 9° of angle traveled; hence, very slow movement. Slow = (here's that word "I" word again) intense! See below for Mercury retrograde suggestions. As the retrograde starts in a cardinal sign, the attention turns to the...

--Cardinal Cross of April and May, now slowly coming to a close. By June 7th this geometry will have run its course, as Jupiter in Cancer moves out of orb with the other cross members. However, this geometry's effect will impact day-to-day life for months to come. Yet to be revealed fruits from the potent seeds sown in the global consciousness in March through early June will be defining points for how we evolve in 2015 and beyond. I suspect these kernels of awareness will reveal their nature during the last 2 Uranus/Pluto squares in December and next March. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Along with the Cardinal geometry there is a...

--Grand Water Trine. This potent form initiated at the end of April continues through June 15. Its members Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces point to heightened focus (Jupiter), reorganization (Saturn) and global healing/purification (Chiron). Usually, this energy on the external = excessive weather: either extreme dry or wet conditions (eg San Diego wild fires and Balkans extreme flooding in May). Also, as a water based elemental cycle, emotions are heightened during this time.  Be attentive to rapidly changing weather conditions. Remember, Gemini is notorious for quick changes, especially during a Mercury Retrograde in Gemini. This fuel also unpredictably stimulates other cycles at this lunation, such as...

--Venus entering its home sign of Taurus just hours after the New Moon, where it remains through June 23rd. Venus in Taurus brings to light beauty, sensuality, fine arts, values (such as money/possessions), refinement, comfort and the culinary arts. She also raises awareness about self-esteem. On the 12th, Venus opposes Saturn in Scorpio. That's a gut-check moment around Taurus' tendency to excessively collect material possessions or to get "lost in delusional love". Perfect timing, especially in Mercury Retrograde, to review what possessions are important in your life versus what's ready to go. Also, a reality check around a budding relationship might bring sobering news. And to close here...

--remember during Mercury Retrograde, refrain from signing contracts/leases or initiating new projects; not a good time to start a relationship, or take your relationship to the next level; if traveling, be conscious of changes and the spontaneous opportunities they present (be prepared for anything...travel during a Gemini vibe can be on the bizarre side of reality); back-up computer files; make sure large equipment is maintained in working order; have clear, conscious communications with others (reflective listening is always a good idea), and explore the possibility realm of what you want to manifest beginning in July.

Mercury enters Cancer at the New Moon, stations retrograde on the 7th, then returns to Gemini on the 17th where it remains until July 12th. Hence, the focus begins with Cancer themes of home, family, and community, which carries back into Gemini. Here, clear communication in these Cancer-type areas is essential for connection and understanding.

Conclusion: I feel like a marathon runner coming to the finish line. These past 5 months have been intense on so many levels of my life, redirecting me in new  unexpected ways. As I have integrated many changes in my life, I feel excited about what is unfolding and glad to be on the other side of dissolving and reorganizing. Look for my new web site debut on July 1 after Mercury moves direct. There, you'll find my creative arts and photography galleries, and astrological and bodywork information.

Recently, I have read several astrology blogs about life getting easier and lighter in June (Jupiter optimism alert). While, I appreciate the importance of levity and playfulness as fuel for choices and direction, the underlying cycles mentioned above point to a much more serious, reflective time in June, accentuated by strong emotional expressions and highly energized weather patterns.

The image to the left (it's from the June Full Moon chart) represents a good example of the various opposition, sextile, trine, and quincunx aspects between planetary energies during the coming 30 days. Regardless of whether or not you understand chart dynamics, the image itself vividly says quite strongly: "confusion", underscored by the New Moon's square to Neptune.  How appropriate for a month pointing to all things Gemini.
