Gemini Full Moon 2012: Illumination for Solstice 2012

Here is the Gemini Astrology update for the Gemini Full Moon and completing the last month of 2012.

2012! It’s the year that’s been talked about for decades, and now it’s almost over! What has been your experience this year?

We know that many astrologers and mystics have ‘capitalized’ on this time with propositions and assumptions on its possible implications or meaning.  What we know for sure is that we are witnessing amazing changes on the planet and it’s an exciting time to be alive!

November 28, 2012 is the Full Moon at 6° Gemini. Gemini is the sign of the Lovers and the Twins. Gemini vibration illuminates a time to gather information, check out other perspectives and try something new.  Are you meeting new
people? Try a different routine. Gemini is the symbol of two, so this Full Moon is an opportunity to differentiate and see something from a new perspective.

There is a penumbral eclipse at this Full Moon. While not as dramatic as other eclipses, the eclipse energy nonetheless invites you to contemplate the shadow within. Consider on this Gemini Full Moon "has there ever been a time when you have felt misinformed, overwhelmed by too much information or too many choices?" The gift of Gemini offers options and choices. 

While some can speculate about the meaning of astrology, and arguments can be made about what ‘system’ is used, one non-negotiable element of astrology is math.  At Full Moon, the Moon is opposite the Sun, creating a 180° angle.   These and other specific planet patterns create sacred geometry to you and your personal birth chart, your map for life. Sky Story:
Following the chart diagram on the left, this Gemini Full Moon (2), opposite the Sagittarius Sun (1) is squared off with Neptune and Chiron at 0° and 5° of Pisces (3), respectively. This configuration is referred to as a "T-square". 

A square represents a 90° angle, between 2 or more planetary energies. It suggests a time to turn a corner, and may be a little rough around the edges. Gemini Full Moon themes for November 28, 2012 invite you to consider "what is real to me?", "what is the truth?", and "do I have a reliable source of information?" 

Chiron brings a healing element to the story. Maybe in the past you had doubts and took action before you gathered enough information. If so, forgive yourself, see the big picture and let go of critical thinking. 

Compassion and caring are Pisces themes that can blend harmoniously with the Gemini playfulness and Sagittarius optimism. Over the next 2 weeks of this Moon cycle, try new things, inquire about alternative perspectives, and in general, lighten up!

The planetary ruler for Gemini is Mercury. Mercury Retrograde just completed on November 26th. Mercury was retrograde since November 6th (US election day). Mercury continues retracing its steps, called the shadow period, through December 13th.

When a planetary energy changes direction, known as "station direct" or "station retrograde", it appears visually from our perspective on Earth at a standstill in the sky. At these times, the planetary energy is considered most potent or powerful. 

Mercury now at direct station positions at 18° Scorpio. While the Gemini Moon may be light and playful, Mercury in Scorpio suggests its a time to dive deep and understand what has been learned during the retrograde period. With the shadow element of the full Moon eclipse vibration, this is an interesting time to consider the totality of light and the dark.

Other planetary energies at play during this Full Moon cycle:

Venus, Goddess of Love, meets Saturn in Scorpio this week. Venus aligned with Saturn in Scorpio two days agon on November 26th. This combo serves as a reminder and reflection on your relationship to Saturn's rules, structure and order in your life.

On November 27th, 2012 Mars moved to the same degree as Pluto at 8° Capricorn. Feeling penty of energy? Mars and Pluto are a very potent combination, and in Capricorn, suggest a time to take action and get organized, focused and realigned with your true inner power!


On the left, these two combinations, Mars and Pluto in Capricorn (1) and Venus and Saturn in Scorpio (2), add potent fuel to this Gemini Full Moon.

Together these planets form with the Full Moon (3)  a pattern called a Yod, or “finger of God”. This is a "fated" point and quite potent when activated.  The Yod pattern in a chart suggest “adjustment is required”. 

Interestingly, there is a similar pattern with a few different planetary player in the astrology chart for Solstice December 21, 2012. (For the astrology detail oriented crowd: notice the YOD pattern is the same on the astrology chart for Solstice, December 21, 2012 on the left. 

As on the Gemini Full Moon, Pluto in Capricorn (1) and Saturn in Scorpio (2) remain in sextile at 60° apart. Gemini remains at the apex,  however in the 2012 Solstice chart, Jupiter (3) at 8° Gemini replaces the Moon, and Venus at 6° Sagittarius replaces the Sun.)

Also, in both charts, Uranus comes into play due to its continued square association with Pluto. As we have shared in other recent updates, this square dynamic is a major theme builder for 2013 and 2014. 

Conclusion: So what is the bottom line? This penumbral eclipse Full Moon illuminates many possibilities for the end of 2012, and offers us a potential pathway to align for the 2012 Solstice. Remember to multitask. Adjustments may be required. Learn to adapt. Gather information before discerning the truth. Lighten up and dream big as we complete this year of the Dragon.
