"Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." — Rumi
The desires of the heart move in mysterious ways. The brain does not understand this mystery. Where our mental perspectives are fueled by "this or that", the heart, fueled by love, only knows desire and passion. Yet, our thinking and desires are potent forces. This Leo Full Moon invites you to reflect on what you truly desire to create in passionate, loving ways.
Full Moon occurs on the 14th at 1:53 pm in Hawaii, 3:53 on the West Coast; 11:53 pm GMT; and on the 15th from Italy, Germany, Eastern Europe east to the International Date Line.
This Leo Full Moon positioned at 26° arrives accompanied by a host of retrograde planets, or planetary energies in strong aspect to each other. Usually, a Full Moon period represents an
"outgoing" time; one to manifest and actualize intentions set at the previous New Moon. However, strong building or current retrogrades pull the reins back on this Moon energy. The energy is directed inward for reflection about all things Leo.
In case you missed it, or would like to see it again, here's our podcast highlighting the significant planetary transits of February.
Leo is a fire sign. It radiates energy. The Sun is the ruling energy of this powerful sign. In its highest vibration, Leo leads with the heart (think of Braveheart). Hence, this Full Moon brings the focus to our heart center. What excites you? Where do you best express your passion? What needs to change in your life to live more passionately and creatively?
Leo gives so that it may receive. Leo's like to feel appreciated, and in some cases, adored. Is it any wonder many stars of the cinema have strong Leo aspects in their natal chart?
Leo's energy is warm and outgoing. On the shadow side, it appears driven by ego to succeed or dominate, regardless of the needs of others.
Here's the Leo Full Moon chart with numbered annotations comporting with further description below:
Significant to this chart, a number of planets are now moving either: retrograde; direct, but still in their retrograde shadow; or slowing down to move retrograde soon. For example:
(1) Mercury, positions close to the Sun at this lunation as it continues its retrograde in Aquarius through the 28th. In typical Mercury Retrograde fashion (take note Olympic organizers), this has and will continue to create significant challenges in the communication, idea and travel realms. Remember, "spontaneity" is your guide during this time. This retrograde has also come during a strong period of solar activity, further fueling intense weather, and of course travel and logistic nightmares. At this lunation, Mercury/Sun/Moon are in square to Saturn, which adds quite a bit of Saturnian limitation to the mix (perhaps, just in case you were considering to be outgoing this lunation). Meanwhile....
(2) Venus is now moving direct, but still close to Pluto. This past Venus retrograde really slowed down any momentum coming out of last Summer. Venus leaves the retrograde shadow on Feb 28 (same day Mercury moves direct). Normally, this inward energy would gradually dissipate, however....
(3) Mars in Libra and Saturn in Scorpio are now slowing considerably and almost at their retrograde degree. Both will retrograde on March 1 and 2, respectively. Mars = young warrior; Saturn = old warrior. This is never an easy conversation (think of the movie "Karate Kid".) That both move retrograde in March points to a significant slowing of productive, energy through at least early June. Which leads us to....
(4) Expansive Jupiter in retrograde until March 6th, when it stations at 10° Cancer. However, take note: Jupiter's forward motion will be very, very slow until early May. Hence, it will have a more expansive effect (is that possible...it's so expansive already) on other Cardinal-sign members such as Mars, Uranus and Pluto. This trio are now moving ever so closer to each other to form the Cardinal Cross for April through early June. In fact. by April 23rd, all will be exactly at 13° of their respective Cardinal signs. "Unprecedented" is the first word that comes to mind; game changer, epic, catalytic, profound, life-altering are some other adjectives. This vibe will be experienced on so many levels of consciousness, including our individuated flow, relationship, career, and home. And if that weren't enough, another nodal shift is underway as...
(5) the Lunar North and South nodes move into Libra and Aries, respectively on the 18th. Nodal energy is akin to an opening or closing of an energetic gateway. The nodes remain in an astrological sign for approximately 18 months, returning to that sign every 18.6 years.
In Libra/Aries, the energetic conversation points to relationship vs the individuated self. This cycle brings all matters of relationship under a strong microscope for further exploration, transformation and resolution.

Mercury Retrograde & The Love Planets: covers 2014 Mercury Retrogrades, plus this year's significant Venus and Mars cycles.
The Cardinal Cross: covers 2014 Astrology for April through early June. This is one of the more profound cycles to occur in the past several thousand years. It's a potent catalyst affecting all aspects of life.
Magical Moons, Eclipses and more: covers Eclipses of April and October, Super New and Full Moons, and the Grand Water and Fire trines of late this year.
Conclusion: As we have been posting since last year, the 2014 cycles are intense, life changing, highly unpredictable, and arrive as the world adapts to a rapidly changing climate, environmental chaos and pressures, struggling emerging nations, and a expanding world population.
We are at a profound nexus of time. One analogy is a bird inside an egg, pecking away at its shell. With each day, there is less and less room inside the shell. Something has to give. Breaking through the shell, the bird sees a brand new world...wholly unexpected. Today, we are inside that shell...feeling and building the necessary critical tension required to invoke significant changes throughout the world.
During such times of building chaos, special souls appear on the Earth stage to inspire us to action. Joseph Campbell was such a renowned master...one of mythology and its cultural imprint. Back in the 1980's he wrote the following passage, which certainly applies to these time in which we live:
"I have read somewhere of an old Chinese curse: 'May you be born in an interesting time!' This is a VERY interesting time: there are no models for ANYTHING that is going on. It is a period of free fall into the future, and each has to make his or her own way. The old models are not working; the new have not yet appeared. In fact, it is we who are even now shaping the new in the shaping of our interesting lives. And that is the whole sense (in mythological terms) of the present challenge: we are the 'ancestors' of an age to come, the unwitting generators of its supporting myths, the mythic models that will inspire its lives."
Our lives are shaped by a fluid field of consciousness. There is nothing "set" in this field. It is in a constant state of flux/shift. In this field each moment offers us opportunity to create in an energy rich fashion. While living "energy neutral" may seem practical, safe and inviting in these chaotic times, remember ships were meant to sail...not remain in the "energy neutral" harbor.
This Full Moon energy is a catalytic moment to recharge, renew and regenerate your body, mind and spirit. Your Leo fire is primed for this task. May the intensity and challenges of these times inspire you to deepen your commitment to a more energy rich existence. Future generations are depending on it. Sat Nam.
