Taurus New Moon April 2012: Magnetic Sensuality

Taurus New Moon arrives late on the 20th in Hawaii at 9:18 pm, and on the 21st, shortly after midnight on the West Coast, US, then east to the International Date Line. GMT is 7:18.

This New Moon directs your attention to the creative energy and sensuality of the Earth. Can you feel the pulse of the planet? She is alive and speaking in ways unprecedented in our lifetimes.

The Taurus archetype, ruled by Venus, focuses on Earthly beauty and its natural expression, and life's comforts. These experiences can take place in the realm of nature, your physical body, culinary delights, art, farming/gardening, creative dance, and all things having intrinsic beauty and value.

At 2° Taurus, this lunation points to a new exploration and expression of one's creativity and expressive feminine qualities whether you are a woman or man. It also directs your attention to the pulse of the Planet and your relationship to her. I call it "magnetic sensuality".

New Moon periods are significant times for something new, refreshing, and expansive. Now that transiting Mars in Virgo has finally started to move in direct motion (4/13), progressive energy once again is available. Yet, Venus says "not
so fast". Venus' coming retrograde in Gemini within a month (5/15) will turn the energy back inward yet once again as she prepares for her next 1½ year archetypal journey.

On April 11th, Venus entered her retrograde shadow at 7° Gemini. She remains in this Gemini inner sanctum until July 31st. More so, this particular retrograde will be deepened and enhanced by the epic and rare Venus' transit across the Sun in early June (more below). In fact, Venus at this lunation is 1° from its Sun transit position. This adds further emphasis to the energy set in motion this New Moon lunation for the coming 5 to 6 months.

Hence, now is the time to direct your energy into creative endeavors while the external Mars-like mojo remains accessible. As we enter into May, this access to greater creative expression will take a definite inward turn, especially affecting all women, artisans, or anyone with significant planetary aspects between 7° and 24° in the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

Significant to this chart is the reappearance of the grand Earth Trine first evident back in March. Then, Mars in Virgo, Pluto in Capricorn and Venus and Jupiter in Taurus came into a grand trine association forming 120° angles to each other. "Trine" angles represent an easy energy. However, due to the extended degree separation, this energy has to be consciously used for it to provide benefit.

Since March, Venus and Jupiter have moved away from this trine association. However, at this lunation (see above), the Sun/Moon and Ceres in Taurus (1) now fill that void. As Ceres represents how you nurture, preserve and harvest (receive) life's riches, a strong theme surfaces around deepening the integration of these very qualities with how you manifest (Mars)(2) and resource your inner power (Pluto) (3) in harmony with the Earth's eco-systems.

  
Adding more depth to this unique geometry is Neptune and Chiron (1) in watery Pisces. Their early degree positions complete a Kite configuration with the Grand Trine.

Kite energy is focused, much like an archer pulling back the bow string. Here you can seed and direct the higher vision (Neptune) of your deepest desires inwardly through your body's healing channels (Chiron). Body health therapies are an excellent way to integrate this awareness. Then, you can direct this energy  into a practical, functional plan (Mars in Virgo #2) in alignment with the highest good of humanity. From that awareness, the questions "how do you want to serve humanity?" and "how do you want to share your inner gifts?" take on added significance and meaning.

Uranus and Mercury: In this lunation, Mercury (#1) has nearly returned to the origination point (6° Aries) of its recent retrograde in Aries and Pisces. Here, it once again conjoins its higher-octave connection Uranus.

What have you discovered over the past month in the realms of communicating your feelings (Pisces) and following your impulses (Aries)? While conjunct with Uranus (direct 3 days after the New Moon) and square to Pluto (#2) thru the end of the month, expect strange, out-of-the blue messages, chance meetings, power struggles, or unusual insights on both a personal, national and international level. 

Events On The Horizon:
Mercury and Uranus conjunction also serves as a poignant reminder the current life changing square between Uranus and Pluto is now well underway. Last summer, we had our first taste of this intense combination, evidenced by the extreme polarization of discord between advocates for substantial change (Uranus/Aries) and the dark, controlling governments and institutions adverse to any kind of meaningful change (Pluto/Capricorn).

Now, the 2nd and 3rd conjunctions between these two forces (there are 8 of them between 2011 and 2015) are set to occur on June 23 and September 18. In short, this Summer is going to be a wild ride as the realms of social unrest and inequality clash with the forces of stability/status quo. Two areas in the US ripe for this intensity is "healthcare" and the Presidential election. Another is Europe and the financial teetering of Spain and Italy.

On a personal level, these cycles afford you an opportunity to explore and transform your life starting with these two questions: "which areas of my life are ripe for change?", and "do I limit myself by antiquated, self-imposed rules?"

 A Look Ahead:

The next New Moon lunation occurs May 20/21 at 0° Gemini as an Annular Eclipse of the Sun. Eclipse energy usually becomes erratic 2 weeks prior to or after an eclipse series. Hence, this unsettled energy will further amplify the building Uranus/Pluto square of June thru September. 

This Annular Eclipse (left) sweeps the northern Pacific Ocean, traveling from southeastern China to West Texas, while crossing many energetic planetary power points in-between such as Mt. Fuji, Mt. Shasta, Grand Canyon, and Bryce and Chaco Canyons.

Eclipse energy is shadow driven, taking everyone inward. Here, the solar eclipse becomes the door opener for the Super Full Moon partial lunar eclipse on June 4, and on the very next day, the extremely rare Venus retrograde transiting the Sun. We have arrived at a nexus in humanity's evolution. Given the potent planetary cycles unfolding over the next 5 months, much more substance and understanding will be added to the unfolding planetary script for 2012 and beyond.
