Equinox and Aries New Moon March 2012: A New Balance

Time is accelerating. Hard to imagine 2/3 of March has past, or almost 1/4 of 2012. Has time's recent passage felt faster to you?

And here we are again...at a significant astrological turning point. One season departs as a new season arrives. Thousands of years ago, tribes in England and Northern Scotland marked the Sun or Moon's arrival at specific points in the sky. Usually, this pause denoted the Equinox, Solstice or other special planetary alignment. Erected were massive stone structures such as Stonehenge, or stone circles, such as Callanish, serving as time keepers of this seemingly "endless journey" around our day Star.

If I may digress for a moment....This endless journey of Planet Earth around the Sun, which spans over 4 Billion years, is literally an incomprehensible passage of time. However, some context may help you appreciate its enormity.

Consider this: according to anthropologist, the human experiment on planet Earth began with Homo Sapien approximately 4 to 5 million years ago, somewhere in Africa. While that may seem like a very long span of time, it's insanely insignificant compared to the age of our solar system. To be more precise, humans have been on this planetary ride less then .1% (that's .0001) of the Earth's epic journey.

Said another way, if the entire time line since the Sun's inception were reduced to a calendar year, a single day on this pseudo calendar would equal 12.3 millions years; and each second approximate 142 years. Translated: on this grand solar stage, humans in various evolutionary forms have existed on the calendar for just 8 hours; and an average life lasts but ½ second. That slight, partial tick of the clock you hear spans an average person's entire lifetime of experiences, co-creation, co-existence, and evolutionary growth. Yes, the bigger picture is truly beyond the beyond. This transmission has been inspired by the makers of Uranus, galactic information conduit, eternal change master and bringer of surprises. :)

Back to the present and the turn of the current season. We arrive at the Aries New Moon on the 22nd at 4:37 am in Hawaii, 7:37 am on the West Coast, US, and 2:37 pm GMT. Only Eastern Australia, New Zealand and points east to the International Date Line mark this passage in the early hours of the 23rd. Just 2 days before, the Sun moved to 0° Aries, marking the Equinox and the start of a new astrological season and year. That's quite a surge of "new energy".

This Aries New Moon contains a potent well of creative expression and desires. Aries typifies such characteristics as "quickly jumping into something new", impulsiveness, and sometimes apparently brash and self-absorbed mannerisms. Yet, the pure essence of Aries also points to child-like wonder: one who is incredibly curious and fully engaged, assertive, courageous and strong.

As with the Pisces New Moon, the Sun/Moon once again are positioned between strong planetary energies at this New Moon lunation. Last time Neptune and Chiron were the bookends. This time the honor goes to Mercury (retrograde) (1) and Uranus (3). The Sun/Moon (2) position between these energies marks a defining moment about further merging the collective energy of Mercury and Uranus. What new, expansive messages are in the offing over the next 90 days from our Galactic neighborhood?

The Grand Earth trine described in our last update of Jupiter (1), Pluto (2) and Mars (3), is also a prominent feature of the New Moon chart. This points to "grounding" or making functional ideas, concepts, dreams, desires etc. percolating within you now. As this trine is also prominent in the Equinox energy, its beneficial influence will be available throughout the new season.

Further, Mars creates an opposition to Chiron (4) in Pisces turning this grand trine into a kite (see illustration on right). 

That kite shows a strong direction of healing energy from Chiron to Mars, initiating a new healing wave on the planet. Here, Mercury's retrograde motion back into Pisces fuels our intuition in unusual ways providing easier access to new information. Mercury moves direct on April 4th setting the stage for other planetary energies to follow suit in the coming months.

Lastly, the retrograde influence of Mars and Saturn continues at this New Moon, essentially working in reverse to these Aries creative tendencies. Their combined energy slows to a halt an otherwise "I will not be deterred" Aries driven creative surge. A building of inward "critical tension" results. The  positive side of such tension is akin to a cauldron, slowly purifying, enhancing, refining and reorganizing energy into a higher vibrational frequency. Yet, there is the shadow element too.

If you are feeling restless, stymied, frustrated, and/or stuck, know critical tension is building inside you. Who is most affected? Anyone with either early or late degree natal placements in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn), or 0° to 23° mutable placements in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

Effective strategies for working with this building tension:

- Exercise

- Immerse yourself into creative projects to stimulate the brain/body expressive channels. e.g we recently created a vision board setting forth what we want to create for the next 9 months

- Minimize or avoid over-stimulating foods such as coffee, chocolate, hot spicy foods,or any caffeinated product

- Rest
- Mediate and pray for something bigger than yourself

- Receive nurturing body care to allow energy to build and dissipate naturally

- Be reflective and open

- Reduce clutter or let go of unnecessary possessions

- Close doors on stagnant relationships

- Ask yourself "I wonder what's on the other side of this experience?"

What can be said that hasn't been said? The themes of these on-going cycles may seem like a broken record, however, this immersive, transitional energy will not go away. These life changing cycles will continue to intensify through 2012. How you embrace and consciously resonate with this energy now may dictate the extent of your evolution and growth over the next 3 years.

As we shared earlier this year "Dream BIG". See beyond the immediate. Position yourself in a place of strength, congruent with your passion, talents, and ability to serve the greater good of humanity. Align with fellow souls on a level equal to or greater than your existing awareness.

Between April 13th and around May 15th, there will be an easing of the energy thanks to Mars' forward motion. Thereafter, the energy re-intensifies, starting with the Venus Retrograde in Gemini, followed by a reenactment of the Cardinal energies of 2010. Saturn completes the year as it moves into potent Scorpio. Hence, simplify life where possible. And most importantly, remember, you are the answer to your prayers. Sat Nam.
