Sunday August 28, 2011 (Mon 8/29 for South America, east to the International Date Line) celebrates the Virgo New Moon.  Moon conjoins Sun at 5 degrees Virgo, with Venus close by at 8 Virgo.  Virgo evokes patterns, organization and order. Add Venus to the mix and you have a strong element of artistry and beauty in these grand designs. 

There is a Grand Earth Trine this New Moon (see below), with 5 planets represented in the Earth signs of Virgo, Capricorn and Taurus. Pluto(1) lingers near 4 Capricorn and Jupiter (2) is its expansive self at 10 Taurus. Meanwhile, Sun, Moon and Venus (3) in Virgo complete the triangle.

Trine energies, due to their wide separation, require focus and action in order to be accessible and useful.This Grand Earth Trine offers a wonderful opportunity to bring your intentions down to Earth and ground them.

The Grand Earth Trine pattern continues again September 10 thru the 15th, as meticulous Mercury moves mid-month through early degrees in its natural sign Virgo. This suggests a time of refinement, efficiency and paying attention to detail. As Mercury has moved direct on August 26, it’s perfect timing to move forward by putting  practical plans in action.

The Sun and Moon in Virgo opposes the healing point, Chiron at 2 Pisces, near nebulous Neptune at 29 Aquarius. This opposition configuration, in addition to the Grand Earth Trine, supports manifesting dreams into reality.  These planetary patterns inspire bigger questions, including “what is your higher vision for shift into a higher frequency of co-creation and inter-dependent cooperation?” 

The Grand Earth Trine is a very easy and supportive energy.  However, at this Virgo New Moon there are four planets interacting together in a way that is very ‘rough around the edges’.  This relationship is called a square and implies the continuation of these “turning point times”. 

Here, Uranus(1) squares Pluto(2).  Also thru 9/4, Mars(3) now at 16 Cancer squares Saturn (4) at 14 Libra.  

Squares in any chart suggest dynamic tension, or a struggle of power. The themes, as we may notice in events on the world stage, relate to reorganizing/dissolving political systems/alliances/parties (Capricorn) to serve individuated needs (Aries); and creating justice and balance (Libra) within our communities (Cancer) in more holistic ways. 

Virgo New Moon is also a time of healing, clearing, cleansing and renewal. There is a Hawaiian healing practice called Ho’oponopono, a forgiveness process about making things right. 

Questions to contemplate this New Moon in the realm of forgiveness:
Is there anything out of sorts in your life? What needs to be reorganized? Is there a part of your life, mentally, physically emotionally and/or spiritually that wants to be ‘cleaned up’? What needs to be made right between yourself and another?  What energetic doors are you ready to close, so others may open?

Conclusion: As we move closer and closer to 2012, it's important to remember that these current, once-in-a-lifetime astrological cycles are energetic templates, divinely inspired and directed for our present day accelerated evolutionary growth on Planet Earth. 

Current Earth energies are alive and amped! This weekend, torrential tropical rains and wind are wide-spread along the East Coast US, while a major cyclone sweeps across the Phillippines. This past week 2 major earthquakes occurred in Peru and the US East Coast. Earth energies of this nature remind us in vivid, startling ways we are merely temporary guests and stewards on spaceship Earth. 

Now, this Virgo New Moon and its Grand Earth trine provide us a way to reconnect with our home Planet in new and integrative ways, developing a more holistic, co-creative relationship with the Earth. As planetary stewards, the choice remains ours to participate or not in this grand unfolding of the sacred mysteries. Our destiny, as a human race, lies in the balance.
