Sagittarius Full Moon - Spirit Awakens the Heart

Today, May 27th, the Moon reaches full potency at 1:07 pm in Hawaii. Other locations: West Coast 4:07 p, East Coast 7:07 p; Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) 11:07 p; Japan 8:07 am on the 28th. Full Moon position is at 6 degrees Sagittarius. This is the 3rd and last Full Moon of the current season.

"Cutting to the Chase" Sagittarius quests for the truth through inner knowingness and pure instinct. It carries a high spiritual vibration and loves to travel to exotic places! By contrast, Gemini explores the realm of networking, playful activity, communication and spontaneity. Bringing together these two dynamics expands the potential for focusing on what brings you heartfelt enthusiasm, inspiration and joy, especially in your journeys.

The light of the Full Moon illuminates the path for sharing and activating these deeper desires with others.

Of course, there's more to this theme than just a Sun/Moon opposition. 4 potent oppositions and 3 outer planet retrograde or direct activations occur during this Full Moon phase, affecting your choice and direction over the next two weeks. Especially influenced by this lunation is anyone with significant planetary aspects between 0 and 10° in the mutable signs of Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces and Virgo.

In short, let instinct and spontaneity (Sagittarius/Gemini) be your guide as you explore what "feels" like a "yes" or "no".  Let your deeper desire for peace and ease be the doorway for how you direct your energy towards yourself and others.

"Expanded Version"

First, here's the Full Moon chart:

Retrogrades and Direct Motion: the Full Moon occurs just hours before Uranus makes its first return to Aries since its last visit between 1927 - 1935. That period of time saw financial crisis, plus significant industrial and technological innovation.

Two days later, Saturn begins its direct motion in Virgo, ultimately returning to Libra on July 21. On the 31st Neptune begins moving backward in Aquarius.

That's quite a bit of earth-changing, shifting momentum occurring within days of each other. If recent earth related events (e.g. volcanic eruptions in Iceland, oil damage in the Gulf of Mexico) are any indication of building tension and release, suffice it to say for now "this Summer will not be boring".

Uranus into Aries is covered in detail in this recent blog entry. This very significant event marks a major shift in vibration, activating new, unpredictable, energy in the spontaneous, impulsive domain of Aries. In June, Uranus is joined in Aries by expansive Jupiter. This precedes the 5th and last opposition with Saturn in Libra later in July. More on this in a future blog.

Saturn's direct movement in Virgo frees up the necessary energy to put into motion form/structure into life's details. As Saturn retrograded this past January from the partnership realm of Libra, related energies are available over the next 7 months  to create greater depth/refinement/clarity and/or closure with those close to you.

Meanwhile, Neptune's reversal signals a 5 month period of reexamining/exploring how you want to share your vision with those in your social circles and friends realm.

In addition to these planetary movements, this Full Moon features four very strong polarities amplifying the Full Moon effect.

Moon in Sagittarius (2) oppose (3) Sun in Gemini (3) square (4) Chiron in Pisces (5)
- T Square - what is the truth? What requires a deeper sense of wholeness/union?

Chiron's brief ingress into Pisces (until July 20th) is setting the stage for Neptune's eventual Pisces debut (April 4, 2011). This is a time for healing and strengthening the empathic sensitivity channel of the body.

When Neptune shifts into its natural sign, it will herald a 16 year period of deeper vision, telepathic connection (especially for the youngest) and the emergence of new ways to create in the realms of cinematography and photography. This Full Moon offers a way to see the truth more clearly around what has been suppressed/denied emotionally on an individual and global level. Further, Chiron offers a way to heal this denser vibration.

Chiron (5) sextile (7) Pluto and Ceres in Capricorn (6) - adding the energy of Pluto's transformative vibe and Ceres' self-nurturing desire to the Chiron mix creates a specific thought form for cleansing, purifying and strengthening your body's ability to feel and sense (Pisces).

Saturn in Virgo (2) oppose (3) Uranus/Jupiter (1) in Pisces - structure/stability versus change/liberation

This 45 year recurring cycle is about to complete the 4th of 5 opposition periods - a rather intense one over the past 7 weeks.

When Uranus moves into Aries, we'll get a brief respite for about 2 months from the opposition intensity, however the way the fervor for change versus stability energy is moving, that might be akin to jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Remember...Uranus energy is synonymous with quick change and unexpected turn of events - "anything goes" is another way of expressing this vibration.

As Uranus is at the very last possible degree in Pisces (29° 59'), its unpredictable vibration tends to greatly exaggerate the already amplified (Jupiter effect) polarity with Saturn. This has been the case especially since Uranus moved to the 29° mark on May 1st.

During May, intense international conflicts have quickly appeared and filled the news, including rebellious, violent demonstrations in Thailand, Iran, and European nations, including Greece. Meanwhile, the potential for military conflict has escalated between South and North Korea over a sinking of a South Korea submarine, and renewed militant efforts by the Taliban in Afghanistan and Al Qaida in Iraq. Strangely, (and thank goodness) the Middle-East has been relatively quiet...at least for now.

In the United States, anger builds as significant amounts of oil continue to escape into the Gulf of Mexico, without an end in sight. Current estimates put the oil spill at over 7 million gallons. Prime fishing grounds and wildlife habitat along the Gulf Coast are now seeing oil wash ashore. This tragic event began during the recent Mercury Retrograde in Taurus (earth energy).

If there is a "silver lining" to this tragedy, it lies in a renewed interest/initiative into alternative energy options. Yet, the long-term political ramifications for President Obama are not clear. His approval rating continues to decline, now in the lower 40 percent range. Venus at 1° of Cancer in Obama's natal chart, is building to a direct square with Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter by July. Look for further near-term deterioration of his political capital as he attempts to maintain his balance in an increasing sea of political, financial and global turmoil.

Mars in Leo (1) oppose (3) Neptune in Aquarius (2)
- desires of the heart immersed in one's vision for the World

Mars slowly makes its way out of Leo en route to its Virgo entrance on June 6th. However, it also slowly intensifies any inconsistency between your heart's desire/vision and how you share your energy with others. Over the course of the next 2 weeks, Mars creates an opposition first with Neptune in Aquarius, then completes this vibration opposing Chiron in Pisces.

The Mars retrograde in Leo during 2009-10 was a rather intense introspection around heart's desire and how you reveal yourself to others. Now is the time to upgrade your vision (Neptune) for how you want to share your light going forward. Adding Chiron to the mix accentuates the healing possibilities around emotionally charged heart related issues. Creating quiet inner nurturing time over the next two weeks is one effective strategy for guidance and direction.

Venus in Cancer (2) oppose (3) Pluto/Ceres in Capricorn (1) -
How am I nurtured by life? What aspects of my life am I ready to transform?

Venus continues its Aries theme activated during the last Venus Retrograde in April 2009. Aries innovation shines its spotlight on self-nurturing care, and choices you make in sustaining/supporting the structural and organizational framework of your life, including your physical body (ruled by Venus). As Cancer also rules family and community, this inner exploration also extends to how you are nurtured by your family and your local community.

Full Moon Conclusion: The tension building to this summer's potent Cardinal Climax vibration continues to spawn surprises, apprehension, and change on all levels of society. This lunation offers a counter-point to the voices of fear, encouraging each of us to find our inner voice and compass.

This Full Moon occurs as the Buddhist sect celebrates the birth of Buddha (Wesak festival). As such, this is a time for creating a more compassionate vibration and extending it out to the world to those in need. Mindfully and soulfully, helpful to remember many people around the world are struggling to maintain their lives and self-esteem, especially in areas of military conflict and environmental chaos.

Expression of gratitude each day can go a long way toward creating more calm in the ethers, and perhaps a greater sense of inner and outer peace on a global scale. May the spiritual essence of this Full Moon fill your heart with gratitude and a clearer sense of your path over the next few months. May you deepen your trust in your instinctive guidance.
