Uranus Square Pluto May 20: Transformation Express

by Kathryn Andren Mina

The heat is on for May Astrology with the life changing Uranus Pluto square once again coming to an intense placement.

The Uranus Pluto square is exact this month on May 20, just 4 days before the Sagittarius eclipsed Full Moon.  Uranus Pluto square is a topic
we have discussed in great detail
in previous updates. This is the fourth of eight squares, which began the summer of 2011. There will be another square on November 1, two more in 2014, and one in 2015. This global wide life changing cycle is far from over.

Uranus and Pluto were conjoined or in close association in the sky story between 1965 and 1968.  That was a period of intense, radical change in the consciousness on broad social and political levels. Now, these 2 transpersonal archetypes square off again at a ninety degree angle, a shape that literally implies "turning a corner". This is the opening square following the mid-60 conjunction. Hence, it continues the themes energized from that 1st meeting.

Uranus is the planet of radical revolutionary change. It is a progressive or forward thinking

Insight for the Aquarius Full Moon today comes directly from our Gemini Awakening Astrology E-book: Manifesting by the Light of the Moon, A Journey Through the Zodiac:

“Aquarius Full Moon is a time of reflecting confidence. Bring your creativity and leadership skills to the group.  This is an opportunity to release self-centeredness and detachment.  Illuminate your desire to be of humanitarian service and share this higher vision with others.”

The Full Moon in Aquarius is exact on August 13, 2011 at 11:57am PDT or 8:57am in Hawaii. Here are Aquarius Full Moon themes for contemplation and support in setting intentions for this August full moon cycle:

Sun exactly conjoined Venus near Mercury Retrograde in Leo:
This is an opportunity for communication from the heart.  Mercury is still retrograde until Aug 26th, so it may be an opportunity to reflect on the past where your communication has been less than heart-felt.  Sun in Leo season generally relates to radiating your passionate, playful, spontaneity.  However, this month, with Venus and retrograde Mercury so close to the Sun, suggests a more inward time of exploring creativity of the heart.

Cancer New Moon July 1: Once More in the Shadow

“Every object in the solar system wears a conical shadow pointing away from the Sun. Even the helmeted head of a spacewalking astronaut wears a wizard's cap of darkness one hundred feet long. The solar system is as prickly as a hedgehog with spines of darkness."
Chet Raymo (1936- ) Educator, Writer, Naturalist

We arrive at the Cancer New Moon very late on June 30th in Hawaii and Alaska, and on July 1st for the rest of the world. New Moon time is 10:54 pm in the Hawaiian Islands, 1:54 am on the West Coast, 8:54 am GMT, and 5:54 pm in Japan.

At this New Moon, the slightest grazing of the Moon covers the Sun’s disk off the coast of Antarctica, creating a Partial Solar Eclipse, essentially visible by no one. This is the 1st eclipse of a new eclipse cycle spanning the next 1,200 years. For astrologers, new eclipse cycle = a theme setter=pay attention to details.

As with all eclipses and their association with a shadow element or "spines of darkness", the power of "the hidden" is at play. Here, I see the hidden element in the sign of Gemini, courtesy of Venus and the South Lunar node.

Gemini is the eternal trickster and playful actor who uses communication and deft actions to effect either a shift in the energy, or adapt readily to a rapidly changing landscape. As a initial eclipse, it sets an important theme for how we function as a world society going forward in this millennium particularly in the 4 foundational areas of life:

Resources - Aries
Career - Capricorn
Home - Cancer
Relationship - Libra

This is most evident in the reactivation of the Cardinal Climax configuration in both the Solstice and New Moon charts.

June 21 Solstice Arrives Today: Turning Up The Heat

... On The Summer Solstice ..."Whatever is dreamed on this night, will come to pass."
William Shakespeare - Acknowledging the Magic of This Time...A Mid-Summer Night's Dream

The Solstice arrives on June 21, 2011 as the Sun enters the Cardinal astrological sign of Cancer. In Hawaii, Solstice is at 7:16 am; 10:16 am on the Pacific Coast; 5:16 pm Greenwich Mean Time (GMT); and on the 22nd starting at 12:16 am over Vietnam, east to the International Date Line.

I was interviewed this morning by Hawaii Public Radio about the Solstice and its significance. That interview will be broadcast on the Solstice, sometime between 8 and 9 am in Hawaii on Public Radio Station 89.3 (KIPO) “Hawaii Conversation”. For those unable to listen to the live feed, an archive version is now available. You can listen here.

In the northern hemisphere, the June solstice is the longest day of the year, marking the first day of Summer. This rich, abundant season expresses the ripeness and fullness of life. Here, the raw, seemingly boundless energy of

June 2011 Eclipses: Dancing with the Shadows

"Oh dark, dark, dark, amid the blaze of noon,
Irrecoverably dark, total Eclipse
Without all hope of day!"
John Milton, English poet (1608-74)

"Roses have thorns, and silver fountains mud.
Clouds and eclipses stain both moon and sun,
And loathsome canker lives in sweetest bud.
All men make faults, and even I in this."

William Shakespeare, English poet and playwright (1564-1616)

This Astrology blog looks at the potent Eclipse dynamics unfolding in the month of June into July. With the Gemini New Moon behind us, and a total lunar eclipse in Sagittarius less than a week away, I examine in broad detail how these celestial events point to events of the past, present and future, and how this may influence the life choices you make in the coming 6 months.

Our human relationship with Eclipses: the above quotes underscore how solar or lunar eclipses once evoked great fear, depressing thoughts, or dread in people. The “unexpected” and misunderstood darkening of the Sun or Moon was seen as a sign of great trouble, or some ominous omen of heavenly wrath. By contrast, today’s astronomers understand the physical mechanics of these extraordinary celestial movements, and mark their future occurrences with uncanny precision.

Yet, there remains the unmeasurable quality of an eclipse; one that evokes awe, wonder, and a connection to something much bigger than ourselves. Herein lies the mystical, archetypal

Autumn Equinox: Resetting the Balance of Power

"Good ideas alter the power balance in relationships, that is why good ideas are always initially resisted...." Hugh Macleod, Consultant

Equal day, equal night. Equinox is a time of balance as the Sun now moves into the Zodiac sign of Libra on September 22 at 5:09 pm HST, 8:09 pm on the West Coast, 3:09 AM on the 23rd, Universal Time. 6 hours later at 11:17 pm HST, the harvest Full Moon occurs. Here's the Equinox chart:

Libra is a Cardinal sign and the first sign of Fall in the northern hemisphere.  The cardinal Zodiac signs each mark the beginning of a new season, Aries Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. As the Sun first enters the cardinal signs during equinox and solstice season it adds extra fuel to the cosmic collective. Because Pluto is now in early degrees Capricorn squaring serious Saturn in early Libra, the Sun provides extra fuel to this intense duo for empowering and restructuring relationships of all kinds.

Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces: Insanity & Inspiration

Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces September 2010 - Jan 2011
Dear Friends,

AstroActivator©2002 by K. Andren
Are you feeling bursts of sudden inspiration?  Are you going with the flow, or does it seem you're swimming upstream when making practical plans?

Today, September 18, 2010, two retrograde planets Jupiter and Uranus meet at 28 Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac. In May, Jupiter neared Uranus in Pisces just before they both moved into the Cardinal sign of Aries for the 2010 Cardinal Climax. Now they have moved back into watery Pisces where they remain in the range of 23 - 29  degrees through mid January of 2011. Refresh yourself with more specific details here.
When two planets conjoin or come together, their qualities blend. It's like mixing colors in a paintbox and a new color is created.  Intensification of unpredictability, blessings from unusual sources and expansion of divine inspiration are some indicators of this Jupiter and Uranus pairing in Pisces.

Virgo New Moon - focusing on life's details

"Life is like an ever-shifting kaleidoscope - a slight change, and all patterns alter."
Sharon Salzberg, Buddhist teacher and author

"The quality of your life is equal to the amount of uncertainty you can live with....this is a magical time for digging deep for new resources".
Donald Epstein, founder and developer of Network Spinal Care

Rocky Mountain National Park: Big Meadow by Joseph Mina
I come to the close of an amazing 5 weeks in the Colorado mountains and eastern plains. Kathryn and my experiences here have opened new doors of inner compassion and grace, brought new friends into our lives and reconnected us with familiar faces not seen in awhile.

Our journey in this area of the world included the week-long Ultimatum intensive in early August, and for me the Transformational Gate & Awaken programs (aka Healingfest) this past weekend. In these transformative forums we have embraced a new "us" in ways that continue to unfold, integrate and reveal. Serendipity, synchronicity and resetting our inner life compass have shaped our experiences. - note: we both have major aspects in our natal charts activated by the Cardinal Climax. Our conscious steps are proactive ones to intimately transform through this resident energy. It's been quite a cosmic surfing lesson.

Shortly after the Mercury Retrograde in Virgo began on August 20th, I wrote "there's my time and Universal time. When my flow encounters, by chance or fated design, the Universal flow, alchemy and magic result." With Mercury Retrograde in Virgo, the energy is beneficial for focusing on our health and the organization and quality of our life (Virgo traits).

These times of transformational shifts and change across the planet, aka Cardinal Climax, expand the possibility and vibrational fields in significant ways. This dynamic wave is ideal for creating new life strategies to adapt and embrace a rapidly emerging, still being scripted, global paradigm.

In complete synchronicity, the Virgo New Moon cycle over the next two weeks further provides the opportunity to focus on the details of your life (Virgo), effecting changes in how you want to be of greater service to humanity now, and in the coming years (Neptune/Chiron in Aquarius).

Cardinal Climax: Take 2 - August 2010 and Beyond

"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star."
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, German Author (1844-1900)

"There is nothing more notable in Socrates than that he found time, when he was an old man, to learn music and dancing, and thought it time well spent."
Michel de Montaigne, Author and Statesman (1533 - 1592)

"Dance today is clearly in an unsettled state....A time of change presents a confused picture. That there is change is proof that dance is organically vital--and much more so than it has ever before been in this country."
Margaret H’Doubler, Master Dance Instructor (1889-1982)

In this age of great uncertainty and shift, the movement of the human spirit to new ground and higher frequency requires conscious action, surrender at times, and discernment. Yet, this trying time can also make the brain/mind quite active as it seeks a strategy of either survival, security or risk. How to still the mind? Spiritual practices, bodywork therapies and creative arts hold the answer. In this latter realm, revisit this wonderful video demonstrating how a simple dance can prove uplifting and unifying. In this space of joy it's easy for your inner spirit to lead the way.

Aquarius Full Moon - Seeding a New Planetary Vision

"Whenever you become empowered, you will be tested."
Caroline Myss, Author, Mystic and Medical Intuitive

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
Gandalf, Fellowship of the Ring - J.R.R. Tolkien, Author (1892-1973)

"Either you decide to stay in the shallow end of the pool, or you go out in the ocean."
Christopher Reeve, Actor (1952-2004)

New Horizons by Joseph Mina
Aquarius Full Moon arrives on Sunday, July 25th at 3:36 PM in Hawaii, 6:36 pm on the West Coast. Meanwhile, Europe east to the International Date Line witnesses the Full Moon on the 26th.

The 25th is  the Mayan Calendar "Day Out of Time"; a day of contemplation, forgiveness and celebration of artistic freedom and creativity. Artists...start up your brushes! The 26th corresponds with the Mayan New Year and rising of the brilliant star Sirius - a wonderful time to tune into higher Galactic frequencies.

The Full Moon positions at 3 Degrees Aquarius. This places the Moon vibration in the same degree realm as the potent planetary members grouping now in early degree Cardinal signs, better known as the "Cardinal Climax". We view this timing as a potential seeding point, strongly infusing Aquarius intentions and influences into this dynamic, once-in-a-lifetime Cardinal mix. Sort of like "priming the pump" (as if it needed any more energy!).

What's being infused? The Aquarius archetype embraces the widest possible perspective, the future, technology, social groups and humanitarian, philanthropic pursuits. Hence, this higher vibration aspires to make the world a healthier place for everyone through altruistic and philanthropic means

Solstice 2010: The Cardinal Climax

"If we don't change direction soon, we'll end up where we're going."
"Professor" Irwin Corey, American Vaudeville comic and actor

"We fear only what we haven't understood." Byron Katie, Spiritual Author

"We live in a moment of history where change is so speeded up that we begin to see the present only when it is already disappearing." R.D. Laing, Psychiatrist

Solstice 2010 and the 2010 Turning Point

The Solstice arrives on June 21, 2010 as the Sun enters the Cardinal sign of Cancer. In Hawaii, Solstice is at 1:28 am; 4:28 am on the Pacific Coast; 11:28 am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT); and 8:28 pm in Japan.

In the northern hemisphere, the June solstice is the longest day of the year, marking the first day of Summer. This rich, abundant season expresses the ripeness and fullness of life. Let your light shine! In the "as above, so below" mysteries, this maximum expression of solar radiance may be seen as a symbol for celebrating your external physical creations here on Earth.

AstroActivators© by Kathryn Andren
At the Solstice this year, astrological patterns line up near the early degrees of all the Cardinal Signs. These zodiac signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are the initiators for each season of the year. They are the 4 cornerstones, or foundational points of life. Aries focuses on creativity and new initiatives; Cancer feeds the realm of community/family; Libra frames our relationships; and Capricorn establishes our rules, organization and structures of life.

This day serves as the sounding bell for the unfolding of events over the next four years. Its dominant Cardinal sign energy reminds us to create something new. The energetic ethers are super ripe now with inspiration and new insights. Some Astrologers refer to this energy the "Cardinal Climax", or as we say the "2010 Turning Point" - a symbolic arrival at the "crossroads" in our personal lives, and as a collective for humanity.

Virgo Full Moon - Awakening the Dreamtime

"The longer I have lived and the more knowledge I have got from the achievements of people, the narrower and smaller the world of knowledge have appeared to me. And it has become more clear to me that even we are ruled by the forces beyond our knowledge."
Toivo Pekkanen, Finnish writer

"I always wondered why somebody doesn't do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody."  Lily Tomlin, humorist

On February 28th, the Moon comes into direct opposition with the Sun at 6:38 am, Hawaiian Standard Time (8:38 am PST; 11:38 EST; 4:38 pm GMT). This is the last Full Moon of the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere.

The actual Full Moon window begins some 16 hours earlier on February 27th as the Moon enters Virgo, and continues 16 hours beyond Full Moon, when the Moon reaches 20 degrees Virgo. This 20 degree span represents the orb influence the Full Moon exerts on our psyches and body vibration during the Full Moon Window. It also explains why the Moon appears "full" for more than one night.

This is the 2nd of 5 consecutive Super Full Moons, as the Moon reaches its direct opposition with the Sun just 19 hours past its perigee point, or closest point to the Earth. This "syzygy" effect puts the Sun/Earth/Moon in direct alignment with each other. This tight line-up, amplifies the Full Moon's pull on the Earth's fluid tides, which incidentally includes the body fluids of all living organisms, including us!

Also, as with all Full Moons, the solar wind effect on the Earth's magnetic field creates a magnetic "tail" sweeping away from the Earth. The Full Moon passes through the tail's field of highly charged particles about 3 days before Full Moon and exits 3 days later. Having a highly charged Moon surface explains in part why Full Moon's can feel intense. That "syzygy" occurs at the same time adds an additional jolt to a very potent lunation. "Lunatics" start your cosmic engines.

Saturn and Pluto: The Dance of Death and Transformation

"It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers" James Thurber

Introduction: Saturn and Pluto and the 2010 Cardinal Climax

On January 31st, Saturn and Pluto trigger the 2nd of 3 very intense squares. This blog examines the dynamics of this potent combo, and their role as part of this summer's potent Cardinal Climax.

What is the Cardinal Climax?? Astrologically, "Cardinal" refers to the 1st signs of the 4 seasons (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn). "Climax" is the pinnacle, crest, culmination or apex of critical tension generated by a powerful phenomena. Visualize a building wave ready to break.

The Cardinal Climax aka the "Twenty-Ten Turning Point" is comprised of the simultaneous interactions between the planetary energies of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto during June and July 2010 in Cardinal signs of Capricorn, Aries and Libra. Five distinct critical tension points make up this very rare super cycle. They are:
