Partial Solar Eclipse Scorpio New Moon Oct 23: Diving Deep

"Nations, like stars, are entitled to eclipse. All is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not become an endless night. Dawn and resurrection are synonymous. The reappearance of the light is the same as the survival of the soul.
Victor Hugo, French novelist and poet (1802-85)

"I was born during an eclipse. I believe very much in astrology. If you were born on an eclipse it indicates your destiny is chaotic."
Gloria Vanderbilt, (1924 - )  Artist, Author, Actress, Socialite and Fashion Designer

Chaos indeed, Gloria! Solar Eclipse energy fuels the shadow. It reveals an inner world of mystery and intrigue. In the "as above, so below" it brings our gaze inward to reexamine priorities and fuel and deepen our inner journey. It's the reflective pause before moving forward. It connects us to our primal juice...the very fuel that enriches life.

At this New Moon, the 4th and last eclipse of 2014 arrives. Like its April counterpart at the Taurus New Moon, it is a partial solar eclipse. This eclipse follows the same energetic theme/path as the other 3 eclipses of 2014, ushering in a period of chaos, introspection and uncertainty. Additionally, the Scorpio vibe adds drama and intensity to the mix!

At 0° Scorpio, the partial solar eclipse activation signals a dramatic shift in energy from Libra and its typical more light-hearted approach to life, to a deep, dark, mysterious Scorpio. For North America, this partial eclipse will be visible and noticeable, particularly for those living in the western part of the continent. For those in the Eastern US and Canada, be prepared for a partially blackened Sun at sunset.

Archetypal Scorpio brings us into the depths of our being, our soul, our reality. It shows us the shadow. "Intense" is a common description of Scorpio types. They play hard...and with
passion. As a water sign, it is highly emotional. Scorpio's inner intensity keeps that emotion inward. This is akin to turning up the heat fully on a water heater, even if the pressure release valve is not functioning. Fully engaged, Scorpio is fueled by pure life force and imbues sexual vibes to its outward expressions...hence, there is nothing routine or blasé about this vibration.

This video illustrates Scorpio's potency and desire to dive deep into the full vibration of life force:

Yet, Scorpio is a true conundrum. It is a fixed sign (middle sign of the season), meaning it's set in place, even though it moves in the realms of death/rebirth and transformation. Hence, expect this eclipse to set in motion over the next two weeks situations that simply will not make sense, especially to those who expect order and logical outcomes in this world.

Lastly, this vibration points to our most intimate relationships, where we experience trust, intimate contact, and sharing valuable resources. Relationships on this level are sometimes quite enriched, never boring, and again, intense. Under the guise of the Moon's shadow, evoking these areas in your most intimate relationships may bring to the surface darker aspects of your mutual connections ready to be expressed and healed.

Here's the Cosmic 411 for this eclipsed Scorpio New Moon:

When: October 23rd at 11:56 am in Hawaii; 2:56 pm on the west coast of North America; 5:56 pm on the East Coast; and 9:56 pm GMT. It occurs on the 24th after midnight for Eastern Africa, then East to the International Date Line.

Where: 0° Scorpio marks the spot. This is the very beginning energy of Scorpio. Hence, new starts/initiatives come under the sway of this lunation. Venus positions at the same degree as the Sun and Moon, entering Scorpio just an hour prior to the New Moon.

Here's the Scorpio New Moon Chart:

Overall Theme: Death and rebirth. An examination of what is meaningful and of value in your life, and how your intimate relationships affect this sense of purpose and value.

Synopsis: We begin the final phase of the calendar year. From here on out, a greater intensity will fill the news, significant breakthroughs will be reported...and breakdowns too. Scorpio brings to the fore the vibration of transformational Pluto, who rules Scorpio and now transits Saturn's structured world of Capricorn. Based on recent events, this vibration now includes releasing viruses and other unseen transformational forms of life into the greater consciousness to effect significant changes in cultures.

Pluto's intent in Capricorn is to raise the energy level of our structured world through death and rebirth. By contrast, Saturn's mission in Scorpio is to reveal the existing limits, and create new boundaries in the Scorpio world of sexuality, shared resources, intimacy and trust. It's quite the mutual dance going on here. This mutual exchange continues until Dec 23, when Saturn moves briefly into Sagittarius for 6 months.

And lest you forget...Mercury remains retrograde until the 25th. See my previous update for more information about surfing this potent retrograde.

Significant Planetary Players this lunation:
Mercury, Uranus and Pluto in the T-square
Sun, Moon, Venus and Neptune in trine

Easy energy:
Sun, Moon, and Venus are in soft aspect to Neptune. Neptune represents the higher octave of Venus. It imparts a grace into this New Moon window, reminding us there is a higher purpose behind expressing our life force in beneficial and life-giving compassionate ways.

Challenging energy: As with the previous Libra Full Moon, the Uranus/Pluto part of the T-square is now drawing a tighter orb, building to its next direct square come December. Adding Mercury Retrograde to the geometry, especially at this eclipse, implies a deep, inward examination of how you are responding and communicating to the elements of strong change (Uranus), and dying structures in your life, especially with people with whom you are in relationship.

Given the strong dichotomy between the Easy and Challenging aspects of this lunation, perhaps we are being offered a choice throughout the world between continued struggle or accessing and utilizing divine grace in our words and actions?.

Planetary Movements during this lunation:
25 - Mercury stations direct at 17° Libra
26 - Mars enters Capricorn, transiting through December 4. A period of focused direction and structure
  6 - Full Moon at 14° Taurus
8 - Mercury returns to Scorpio
10 - Mercury leaves its retrograde Shadow

Suggestions for this lunation:
- View the solar eclipse live (if you live in North America) or on-line. Connect to the Universal mysteries of life.
- Exercise...move your life force; energize your physical form
- Quiet time for reflection and renewal
- Avoid over stimulating foods
- Re-examine how you communicate your desire, needs and concerns in relationship
- Create an uplifting day for yourself and those close to you
- Look for the 1st crescent moons in the post sunset sky on October 25 and 26. Look for the crescent Moon and Mars together on the 28th.

Conclusion:
2014 has been quite a year of change, upheaval, unpredictability and chaos...all signs of transformation from the old to the new. And there's still 10 weeks to go. Since the beginning of my trip around the globe, there has been one thing that has been consistent with many souls I have met along the way...a desire to connect, share, be compassionate and feel important. People, regardless of national origin or culture all want the same thing...to be appreciated, recognized, helpful and creative.

At this Scorpio New Moon, deepening our connections in our relationships takes center stage. The journey points inward first to reevaluate and renew your connection to the life force fueling your inner world. Then, outward to create new alliances and a greater participation in this enormous shift in human consciousness. As I have previously shared, 2015 through 2017 are very potent years. The very seeds planted since 2011 when Uranus and Pluto came into aspect will reveal their fruits. Choice is upon us unlike ever before. In the Scorpio field of awareness you are reminded at this New Moon that passion and risk to dive deep are your keys to great change and opportunity in your life. If not now...when???

Enjoy the partial phases of one of nature's grand spectacles. Your soul deserves this "as above, so below" connection with life's great mysteries. Sat Nam.
